INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF OUR CITY
Sherman is my past, my present, and my future. I am so proud of how far our city has come in recent years - we have embraced growth, have expanded our infrastructure, have supported our school district, and have placed the city in a position of long-term financial health.
I am running for City Council not because I believe we need more change but because I believe the change we are undergoing needs perspective. The focus of the City leadership cannot be solely on large industry and newcomers. With every decision that is made, the Council must take into consideration the impact of that decision on the citizens of Sherman. Several months ago, I was traveling across town, trying to make it to my daughter's tennis match when I was suddenly caught in a terrible traffic jam. I thought certainly there had been an awful accident - I soon learned that there was no accident (good news) but, rather, traffic had been stopped both ways to allow the workers of a large construction site to exit onto the highway. I sat in my car, feeling as though my needs, my priorities, and my children were second in line to the big industry growth.
We must remember our families. We must remember our businesses. We must remember what matters.
I am an accomplished attorney, a successful business owner, a proud mother, and a life-long citizen of this beautiful town. I have the viewpoint of our young families aiming to better their lives and the lives of their children. I have the viewpoint of our small business owners striving to achieve their dreams. I have the viewpoint of a member of this community trying to support our non-profit organizations, our schools, and our fellow citizens.
My perspective is not unique - it is the perspective of many of our citizens. My desire is to represent and voice that perspective on behalf of this great city - together let's shape the continued success of Sherman.
